A presentation of TEHILIM, an album by Boris Malkovsky, featuring organ and a female vocal quartet, will be held in Tel Aviv.

December 28, 2024.  Einaf Cultural Center (71 Ibn Gvirol St., Tel Aviv). 8:00 PM, doors open at 7:30 PM.

Tehilim (The Psalms of David) is one of the most significant texts in human history, and while many composers have set the Psalms to music in various languages, few have done so in the original Hebrew. Malkovsky's album changes this, blending contemporary academic music with ancient Jewish liturgy, medieval music, and 20th-century rock influences. The album features organ, performed on a Hammond organ, and four vocalists, creating a unique fusion of sound.

Performers:

Boris Malkovsky – Composer and multi-instrumentalist, performing on the Hammond organ. Malkovsky is known for blending diverse musical styles, from classical to jazz, and has composed music for numerous theater productions.

Reut Rivka Shabi – A coloratura soprano with a powerful vocal range, Reut has performed in prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and has sung with major orchestras like the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Her repertoire includes opera roles such as the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute.

Tamara Neshri - soprano and a graduate of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University. She has performed solo parts with the Israel Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. She has also sung solo roles in several well-known operas.

Maria Telnov-Arber – Mezzo-soprano and vocal teacher, Maria has sung with the UNESCO International Choir and performed at major events like the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. She is also a choir conductor, leading choirs in Tel Aviv and Netanya.

Sharon Yalin —  mezzo-soprano and a fourth-year student at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University. She sings in the Israel Opera Chorus and the "Zamarei Moran" ensemble, with a repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music.

Producer: Victor Levin (Auris Media).

The concert will feature a rich blend of vocal artistry and instrumental mastery, offering a memorable and evocative musical experience that explores the depths of Jewish history and culture through the Psalms.
